Language Services: Voiceover and video localisation
Case study
Challenge
Online materials had been developed to train patients on the consent process in a study for a large pharma company. The content for localisation involved a web page (HTML and JSON) and video content (After Effects). All content required localisation into 13 different languages and dialects for the study, including German for Germany.
Solution
The ICON Language Services project management team translated and reviewed all web content and video scripts, working with expert clinical translation linguists from our pool of vetted suppliers. Linguists worked into a computer aided translation tool that equipped them with client-specific translation memories, term bases, and automatic quality assurance tools to help promote consistency of content.
Translated scripts were then recorded by native speakers of the target language, the new audio implemented into the After Effects video, and the audio timing was adjusted accordingly. Localized video files and their surrounding localised web pages were then reviewed in final format by our expert linguists, to check for proper display and page performance (including verification of pop up text, menus, etc.).
ICON’s value add
– Our computer aided translation technology allows for extra consistency and quality checks across file types.
– We are able to accommodate the localisation of multiple file types and technology platforms within one scope of work.
– We are accustomed to localising content across a wide variety of platforms. Many of our clients use proprietary systems and need custom localization solutions that ensure maximum quality and efficiency.
Outcome
ICON provided a fully localised and tested informational solution for patients that was consistent across platform components (navigational features, video content, and main web content).
